Request for Licensing Proposals (RFPs)

Before a newly developed crop variety becomes commercially available, it moves through a defined review and approval process. Varieties developed through Texas A&M AgriLife Research are first evaluated and approved for release by the AgriLife Research Plant Review Committee. Once approved, varieties may be considered for entry into applicable state seed certification programs.

Following these steps, AgriLife Foundation Seed invites interested parties to discuss licensing opportunities for newly released varieties. Licensing proposals are evaluated in accordance with our legislative mandate to protect Texas A&M AgriLife Research intellectual property and ensure responsible commercialization.

Parties interested in licensing opportunities should contact AgriLife Foundation Seed directly to request information or discuss potential proposals.

Contract Seed Grower Information

AgriLife Foundation Seed periodically works with Texas producers to grow foundation seed under contract in support of public plant breeding programs. These opportunities are available to producers who can meet specific production, isolation, and quality standards and who are willing to operate under clearly defined guidelines.

Crops of interest may include wheat, oats, barley, rye, peanuts, cotton, guar, cowpeas, millet, and forage species. Availability varies by crop and year based on program needs.

Producers interested in contract seed production opportunities should contact AgriLife Foundation Seed directly to discuss current needs and eligibility. Peanut growers should review our identity-preserved shelling and handling process.
